Julie A. Gafkay represents whistleblowers statewide in Michigan and outside of Michigan. Attorney Gafkay has been protecting the rights of employees since 1995. She is admitted to practice in all courts in Michigan, in all federal courts in the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. She has extensive experience protecting the rights of medical professionals who report fraudulent or illegal practices by their employer and are the victim of retaliation. She has represented doctors in Qui Tam actions under the False Claims Act who have reported fraudulent billing to Medicaid or Medicare for unnecessary medical services or for services which were never done. She has recovered millions of dollars for medical professionals over the years. She has served as President of the Saginaw County Bar Association and Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. She is an advisory member for the State Bar of Michigan, Character and Fitness Committee and serves on the Local Rules Committee for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. In 2019, she was honored with the Champion of Justice award from the State Bar of Michigan. She completed her Bachelor of Arts at Michigan State University’s James Madison College in 1992 and finished her Juris Doctor with honors at Whittier College in California in 1995.
